In the last 12 years, Melissa has specialized in therapy of the hand and upper extremity working directly with Fellowship trained Hand Surgeons throughout South West Florida. Melissa has had extensive experience in the treatment of traumatic injuries requiring repairs and reconstruction of the elbow, wrist and hand, work and sports related injuries and arthritic conditions. Melissa utilizes several techniques to facilitate her patient’s success in regaining functional use of their arms and hands. These techniques include manual therapy, myofascial release, joint mobilization, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercise, wound care, education in joint protection, use of ultrasound and electric stimulation and custom splinting. Melissa also enjoys her role as a clinical instructor for Occupational Therapy students from various accredited Universities across the United States and has participated in their Master level research studies.
